Job/Research Summary
Duties would include research, modeling and simulation of electrical power systems. This research would focus on developing models for distributed generation equipment (photovoltaics, wind, fuel cells, batteries, turbines, and inverters) and conducting simulation studies for a variety of scenarios of interconnections of distributed generation and the electrical power system. Also conduct model verification testing and detailed analysis of modeling results and fielded system performance, which would include designing data acquisition systems to collect data and developing methods to process large amounts of data. Plans and designs projects and determines technical objectives. Interacts with members of the technical community to stay informed about developments and communicate results. Provides reports on technical work and input to technical publications and presentations. Publishes results in technical journals/conference proceedings; presents work at conferences, symposia, and review meetings. Follows all Environment, Safety, and Health policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment.
Required Education and Experience
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 3 years experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Additional Basic Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
B.S. degree in electrical engineering or other engineering or science program and 3 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated technical knowledge of engineering practices, procedures, and techniques. Must be proficient at electrical system simulation programs (i.e. Powerworld, PSS/E, PSLF, Synergee, Distributed Engineering Workstation, Matlab/SimPower Systems, Simulink). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work well in a team or independently with limited supervision. Demonstrated excellence in applying knowledge and know-how in using modern software and hardware tools to solve real world problems. Required attributes include: strong verbal, presentation, and technical writing abilities, sound interpersonal communication, creative, innovative, and adaptable.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred experience in electrical engineering with specialty in power systems, distributed energy systems, or power electronics. Familiarity with processing large data sets and conducting detailed analysis. Development of simulation and visualization tools. Preferred Engineer Intern (EI) or Professional Engineering (PE) License.
