Job Description

- Postdoctoral fellow to expand section capabilities, support ongoing chemistry-related research projects, and seek funding for new initiatives.

Duties - Synthetic chemistry support - Synthesize and characterize new molecules, polymers and biomolecules. Extensive experience with Schlenk-line techniques and air-free synthetic methods. Perform reactivity studies. Chemistry research ¿ Extramurally funded research, IRAD, or other funded research in support of departmental goals. Other ¿ Preparation of funding proposals, documents, reports, etc.


Requirements

Required - Candidates should possess a Ph.D. degree in chemistry with extensive synthetic chemistry experience. 1-2 years experience in organic synthesis, bioassays and spectroscopic analysis including high field NMR, fluorescence, FTIR, GC-MS and UV-vis. Extensive experience with 31P NMR is a must. Candidates will be expected to be self-motivated and able to work collaboratively in a team environment with scientists and engineers representing a variety of different backgrounds, skills, and experience levels. Successful candidates will be knowledgeable in traditional and state-of-the-art tools of synthetic chemistry. The ability to think independently, work well with others, present unbiased evaluations of data and other information in technically complex situations, and technical writing and presentation skills for both scientific and non-scientific personnel are critical.
